Ideas to make your #plankaday minute more fun

For those of you in #plankaday you know how much fun we have made AB workouts. Thanks to all the #plankaday’ers, @drsherrypagoto and I (@mbfgmike) have had more fun then we ever thought we would when we started this.  For those of you who are not part of #plankaday, what the hell are you waiting for; Plank, tweet, repeat. (learn about it here:   Plank A Day Revolution

I have built up to doing one-minute planks (trying for 3 a day).  I know it sounds easy, but man that is the longest minute of the day, and the last 15 seconds seems like an hour! What is needed is something to keep your mind occupied.  I used to use music, but lately there have been some fun ideas to keep your mind off the pain.  I challenge all our #plankaday’ers to jump in and give them a try.  Your first two fun assignments are to see how many NFL teams you can name while planking, and how many 80’s sitcoms you can name while planking.  Sound easy? You will be surprised, as your brain freezes, while you try to think and plank at the same time (not quite as easy as thinking and chewing gum).  I’m a major NFL fan, and did a horrible job my first try.

If you need a little inspiration take a look at @purelynumbers , @realDMK @and_she_tweets  @coachKristieLV  & @ needsexample they have all had fun with this.  Lori (@purelynumbers) was able to name 20 NFL teams, and 15 80’s sitcoms.  So not only does she have the record for most Penalty planks, but I think she has the lead on these two little tasks.

The side effect of having all this fun, is that in an effort to name more, you start to extend you planking time without even knowing it. I ended up extending one plank by 30 seconds while trying to name the NFL teams.  So come on all you plankers, give it a try and report back via #plankaday tweet.  And if you have any other fun ideas please let me know.
PLANK ON!!

  1. What we should do is rotate a topic each day. Today is superhero day, and many future topics up for grabs like one-hit wonders, child television stars, and the arrests of Lindsay Lohan.

  2. How about American Idols, candy bars, A-Z vegetables, Ford car models (past and present), and chain restaurants! Announce a time when the topic of the day is announced and we'll look for it! Get plankin!

  3. I think we should pick a day every week (like WED) to be a #plankaday theme day, and try to get everyone to join in. We could promote it each week, to help keep things fresh and fun. Have them tweet it with #plankaday and the theme (#NFLteams)

  4. Love it! I always repeat my one minute acting monologue, which is a "Reference Librarian's Fantasy" - I think I would utterly fail the NFL team thing but I am up for a challenge!

    1. Did you ever try the NFL or other lists? I started to do a one minute monologue from the holy grail.

  5. I do the "A is for Apple" game but make it as dirty as possible. Swear words, sex words, you name it. I don't limit myself. People must wonder why I'm giggling my way through my planks.
